Sioux City has a well-connected transportation network with Interstate 29 providing direct access to the north and south. The total miles of track operated in Sioux City is 97.23. In addition, D&I Railroad (DAIR) and the Siouxland Historical Railroad Association (SHRA) are Class II and Class III railroads that operate under trackage rights agreements with the Class I railroad companies. Sioux City is one of only a handful of cities nationwide who are served by three Class A rail companies: BNSF, UPRR, and Canadian National (CN). Hawthorne Aviation, Sioux City’s FBO, provides extensive services for corporate/private and charter air services. Commercial air service is provided by American Airlines with service to Chicago O’Hare and Denver International Airport. ![]() The Sioux Gateway Airport/Brigadier General Bud Day Field serves the tri-state region of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. ![]()
